The Shoe Confidential
Confession, I’m addicted to shoes. I’m that girl that wears her heels to go shopping for pavers (true story, don’t judge me). I plan my outfits around my shoes, first I pick my shoes and then I plan my outfit around them, seriously. In my head there is not such thing as too many shoes. That phrase is off limits in my house! My husband would disagree what this statement but he knew about my addiction when we got married, it was part of the package! I do realize that maybe I don’t need that extra pair of heels but you never know when you might need a pair of hot pink stilettos, right?
I love me a pair of great heels, specially a great pair of statement heels. When it comes to brands, I am an equal opportunist. Yes, I do love a hot pair of red bottoms but again what girl doesn’t? However, I don’t mind rocking a pair of Payless because Payless has really step up their shoe game in the last couple of years.
In my early twenties I could practically run in heels but after I had my kids, practicality won and my go to shoes become flats, because let’s face it running around after a toddler in heels is not that fun. I was fine wearing my cute flats while my heels collected dust in my closet. Fast forward to a few years later, when we got invited to a wedding. I got dress in a cute dress, got my hair and nails done and went into my closet to find my sky high stilettos. After taking a few steps, reality hit, I was out of practice! I looked like a baby giraffe learning how to walk! Yes, it was that bad. What happen to me?!! I was the Manolo princess before and here I was now looking like I took a one-on-one walking lesson from Frankenstein. After an awkward night and finally dishing my heels for some flip flops, I knew I had to teach myself to walk in heels again! How hard could it be, right? I mean I’m Latina we are born wearing heels (and hoops!).
Turn out, it wasn’t that easy! How was I able to do this before? After a few YouTube tutorials, (what’ can’t you learn on you tube!) a lot of walking around my house in heels, I got it down! I was back in the heel game! Since I work from home most of the time, I don’t wear heels as much as I use too but I do jump on the chance when I can wear a great pair of stilettos! I LOVE them all! Glittering, open toe, with straps, without, leather, I don’t discriminate!
